XP vs Windows 2000 Kerberos authentication issues

Asked By: Aiesha Amin         Date: Mar 28, 2007      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 291

This post comes on the heels of my last post regarding registering the
SPN's for my different web apps. I believe that the SPN's have been
registered correctly, but now, anyone using XP cannot authenticate.
When an XP user tries to visit a site, a login box appears, but when
the login is entered it fails to authenticate. However, anyone using
Windows 2000 has no problem.

Is Kerberos still not configured properly, so it's falling back on
NTLM?

You will probably need to add the URL to the trusted internet zone or
Intranet Zone in Internet Explorer. Either one is fine but the option for
automatic login must be enabled against the URL in internet explorer. Also
MOSS applications must also be configured to run in Kerberos mode. Hope this
helps.
