XML Webparts

Asked By: Ronald    Date: Jan 28    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 766

I'm looking at some fairly cool widgets, some of which are written in
XML like:
http://www.google.com/ig/directory?num=24&url=http://homepages.ipact.nl/~kruit/b\
enno/folder/Documents/Google/wpsearchbar.xml&q=&start=0
But when I paste them into an XML webpart it doesn't work. Is this
beyond what SPS is capable of doing with these webparts? I figured
they would sort of work like Content Editor web parts, only fox XML.

The XML for these widgets is just to define their behavior, but it uses what
the Google page has behind it (javascript, etc.) to actually drive it. So
the XML alone doesn't do anything without the engine driving it. It's not a
downfall of SharePoint, just the fact that the widgets need more than just
XML to make them go.
