xml code in each events webpart points

I have found that the xml code in each events webpart points to a
specific file in the 'portal_content' folder in the management web
file. What I am looking for is how to make the web part read from
several files but save to only one. I have tried a plethora of ways
that have failed dismally. Any coders out there?
