WSS user access problems...

Asked By: Ali    Date: Aug 09    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 787

I have a user on a WSS site that had been given access to a WSS site
(running under SPS 2003) who shared their password with me, to help
troubleshoot her inability to access the site. She'd been set up with a
Contributor role, but is unable to log on to the site. I logged on the
network just fine with the password she gave me, but would not let me on
the site in question. So, I removed her from the list of users with
access, and filled out the access request (as her login). Now, when I
try to give her access, I get a message stating that a user with that
name already exists. There are a few subsites that are all inheriting
the permissions from the top-level site.

Any ideas as to why I can't re-add this user after I've removed her
access?

Is it possible the user  had an AD change where their SID and/or account name
changed? Bewst bet here is to remove the user at the site  collection level,
then try re-adding them to the site.
