WSS Sub-site access - missing default.aspx in links

Asked By: Giovanni    Date: Feb 18    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2614

I am working with a WSS 3 (No SP1 yet) implementation that was just
upgraded from wss 2. The WSS sits on a Win2K3 Domain that exists along-
side, but is not tied into a Novell NDS Domain. Clients logging in to
WSS 3 from a machine joined to the Windows Domain have no issues.
Clients logging in to WSS3 from non-Domain (NDS Managed) machines can
get to the top-level site fine, but when they click on the links to sub-
sites, they get a 404 error. If the user manually adds default.aspx to
the end of the failed link, the sub-site loads fine.

My first thought was AAM's, (Maybe seeing machines as
external/internet) but the AAM's are set fine. After checking around on
this through local resources, I have learned that others are
experiencing this problem, even on freshly spun-up WSS environments.
Are we missing something simple?
