WSS + SSO & My subsite

Asked By: Eddy    Date: Jun 29    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1257

we are going to deploy a fresh WSS site on intranet of the
organization. Challenges analyzed are :

-Implementing SSO with WSS
-There wld be one TOP level WSS site - anonymous access for all the
network users. Then at the second level thr wld be 6 subsites for each
LOB and memeber from Top level site shld only hv access to his
particular LOB to which he belongs- MY LOB(my subsite). Each user from
top level site will be the member of only one LOB.

When you say SSO, you do realize that WSS does not inherently have any SSO capabilities...

Ya , I know but i intend to ask was if thr is any third party SSO which we can implement with WSS ?

Please help for the second query as well..

In terms of SSO solutions, there are third party products such as RSA's ClearTrust (http://www.rsasecurity.com/node.asp?id=1186) or Version 3's Enhanced Basic Authentication ( http://www.ver3.com/Products_SSO_EA.aspx), among others. There are quite a few out there.

In terms of the MySite functionality for which you seek, this is not something that you are going to mimic easily through WSS as this is a capability and selling point of SharePoint Portal Server.

Decent article that discusses how these filters work, or what to be on the look out for...

Additionally there are quite a few other products of interest:

InfoLogix - Enterprise level  Single Sign On

Cams - www.cafesoft.com/products/cams/camsOverview.html

InfoGenic S2O (looks really cool, might have to get a copy to test out...) - http://www.infogenic.net/goto/S2O

And those are just a few more... I bet if you would Google "Microsoft SharePoint Single Sign On web" you'd find all of these and more.

Well, i m looking for these third party products and for My subsite  concept i hv got the solution of creating custom webpart which ll take the current logged on user  credentials and its super group from AD and will connect tht to Link webpart which will show link corresponding to the credentials passed. Then at the second level  , access  request wld work.

Though it is nt a perfect solution as it wld be difficult to delete the users  who ll left the organization but nt getting nything else at the moment to start with.

If some one has any better solution thn do reply.
