WSS Site moves

Asked By: Jefferson Barron         Date: Apr 24, 2005      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 172

Does anyone know of a way to move a WSS Site to a different URL
without changing the modified dates of the DOCS and the list items. In
the past I have also used smigrate to do this but this results in a
loss of all the users of the site and all of the modified dates change
to the date the site was moved. The other option I was thinking might
work would be to assign an alternate URL to the WSS so either URL
takes you to the same site. The problem is I am not sure of this is
possible. The WSS is in a SPS environment so alternate headers will
not work.

I am not clear of what you are saying here? The renameweb or
addpath? Neither one of those will accomplish what I need them to
do. There has to be a way to move  a site. I tried creating the site
template but the site  is bigger than 10 mb so that didn't work.
Basically all I want to do is change the URL I am not sure why this
seems to be so complicated?? Any ideas are appreciated.
