WSS Site Definition?

Asked By: Diamond    Date: Apr 07    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 804

I'm trying to set up a custom WSS Site definition to use to base a set of sites
from. I've copied the STS folder and renamed it. I've gone into
\TEMPLATE\1033\XML\WEBTEMP.XML and added it as an option there so I can select
it when creating a site. Lovely, jubberly.

I'd hoped that I could create some more aspx pages in my new site folder and use
them. However, how can I get SPS to know they're there? Maybe in the site
definition in one of the xml files (onet.xml, stdview.xml, vwstyles.xml). Any
clues or ideas?

In ONET.XML there's a section called "Modules". Inside each module you
can add a <Module> with a <File> tag (this is how default.aspx gets
added to the site). Add the filename there, copy it to the sitedef and
it will be populated in the site  when it's created.

That’s exactly what I need - I thought my idea of hacking rows into the database
sounded a bit off...
