wss.mdb

Asked By: Jackson    Date: Feb 23    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1063

Has anyone had any luck examining this file (wss.mbd) in Access? At
every twist and turn I get an error (Unrecognized Format) trying to
open the file.

No and nobody will ever have luck opening this file  with Access because
it is not an Access database even if the file extension might lead into
this direction.

It is JET format  and the usual extension is *.edb not *.mdb
You can try to use eseutil.exe and isinteg.exe located at
Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Storage System\BIN\

Sorry, to correct you. But it is not JET. The Exchange 2000 and SPS
database is based on ESE98 (and Windows 2000 Active Directory + Exchange
5.5 on ESE97 BTW). ESE stands for "Extensible Storage Engine" and it was
developed back in the early 90's to provide a storage for semi
structured data.
