WSS and Document Libraries

Asked By: Johanna    Date: Jan 25    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 523

I have two sharepoint servers each with a WSS site on them that needs to
share a document library. What I really need to be able to do is make
the two document libraries sync up. When a document is added to one, it
needs to also reflect on the other. Is there any way possible to make
this happen?

If it makes any difference, the two servers reside on the same subnet
and within the same domain.

If a single library  would suffice then a DataView Web Part could take
its source from that single library. Alternatively the Corasworks
Rool-Up Web Parts should be able to satisfy this need or perhaps the
iOra suite which I believe does replication between libraries.

Or you could roll your own by harnessing document  library events.

Thank you for responding so quickly. How would I go about creating a
dataview web part on the second site  or rolling my own by harnessing the
document library  events?

Use FrontPage to change a standard view Web Part into a DataView Web
Part and then change the location from which it gets its data. There are
many articles out there that show you how to do this.

Re document  library events - you need to write some code - so find a
developer and read the SDK on how to get started...
