WSS - Default Time Zone setting problem...

Asked By: Jamie Baker         Date: Aug 02, 2006      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 973

We are using Windows SharePoint services and now there is a problem
related to time zone after daylight saving time, which anyone couldn't
troubleshoot.
I have checked the Default Time Zone setting for the default virtual
server on SharePoint central administration as well as all the
individual site settings. Everywhere we are using GMT-06.00 - Central
Time (UK). However if anyone create or modify a document in SharePoint
(any site) the time showing on
SharePoint is different than the system time of the same server.
Suppose if the current time on the server clock is 11.34 AM, then the
modified document time on the SharePoint would be 3.34 AM. This is
strange, why this happening? Where from SharePoint getting time? Is it
not from system clock?

After my research, I have checked  the three settings  below.
1) in the reginal setting  of control panel, set the location to
be "United Kingdom"
2) check the "Date and time" setting of Control Panel to see whether
you have chosen the "Greenwich Mean time"
3) Then click the "site setting" of your test site. In the "Site
Administration->Change regional settings" page, choose "Greenwich
Mean Time..." in the timezone section.

Now uploaded one document  to test site  to see what the time  stamp is
set now. Still it is showing  GMT+8 hrs difference. Appreciated your
thoughts for this.

Goto Site Settings -> Regional Settings -> select the time  zone you
want and click apply for the same.

With this I could resolve the problem. At the time of installation if
you have selected the correct Timestamp, you would not get this
problem.

Hope this helps some other guys also...

What is the time  zone where the file is uploaded from?
