WSS Backup / Restore

I am trying to do a backup / restore with stsadm. The backup
server is Windows SharePoint Services 2.0. The other one is Windows
Sharepoint Services 3.0. The backup worked fine. When I tried to do
a restore on the 3.0 server it gave me an error saying that the two
programs that I am using are not compatible. I thought you could do a
backup / restore when trying to migrate from 2.0 to 3.0.

For 2.0 -> 3.0 you need to do an upgrade (either in-place or side-by-side). The
process is in the 3.0 documentation.
