WSS accidently uninstalled V2 Sp2

Accidently WSS Sp2 was uninstalled from the server. It was
reainstalled and now we are getting a host of errors. We are getting
this error when you search in an area. Your search encountered an
error. If the problem persists, contact the portal site administrator.
If I go to Manager Search Service it shows this error.
System.InvalidCastException: No such interface supported
at mssctlbm.SearchAdminClass.set_HostName(String pbstrName)
ings.OnPreRender(Object sender, EventArgs e)

Under Indexes and Propagation
Error Collecting Statistics

Under Configure search and indexing
No such interface supported
Under Manage Profile Database
An error has occurred while accessing SQL database or system
resources. If this is the first time you have seen this message,
please try again later. If this problem persists, please contact your

Did you also re-install Portal SP2?

Looks like it's missing or a post SP2 hotfix is missing.

I reinstalled WSS and then SP2. I check both SPS and WSS and they are both
at SP2..

I had a similar experience with MOSS 2007. I found a blog the recommended
using Windows Installer CleanUp utility.


I used the CleanUp utility to completely remove the problem  install of
MOSS, did a clean install and everything is working fine now.
