WSS 3.0 Error: 'length' is null or not an object

Asked By: Melissa Lewis         Date: Mar 13, 2009      Category: MOSS      Views: 375

We are experiencing this is error in our WSS 3.0 sites. We thought we
found the fix, in kb 950292, but this is show as a MOSS fix.
Does anyone know if it will install on WSS or if there is a WSS version
of the fix?

Is this showing up as described in the "Issue" section, namely when you
create a Word 2003 doc and select a content type to save the document to a
SP2007 server?

Yes, we are experiencing the exact issue described, except it is a
WSS 3.0 site, not a MOSS site.

I have confirmed that kb 950292 is MOSS only, and this error
('length' is null  or not an object) has not been reported to MS for
WSS.
In troubleshooting, I noticed our server versions seem out of synch.
Most of them are 12.0.0.6300 (Post sp1 hotfix rollup) including some
old, now unused test database servers. But the current
database server is 12.0.0.4518. There is a screen shot in the Photos
section under my screenshots folder.

So questions for the group:
Should the versions be the same for all servers (I would think yes)?
And if so, what is the correct process to update this one server?
