Working with Mobile Views

Asked By: Katharine    Date: Jun 27    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 882

We have a group of users who now have the HTC Fuze and would like to
use it to view some of the resources on their SharePoint site like the

We have the mobile views enabled at http://domain/site/m but they
aren't behaving consistently.

For instance, if I bring up the calendar's mobile view in Device
Emulator (as mentioned here:
blogs.msdn.com/.../580806.aspx), it
may not be wonderful but it is useful.

The Fuze is running Windows Mobile 6.1 with IE just like the emulator
but when I navigate to the calendar, it only shows about 4 events per
page (vs. a full week of events on the emulator) and on the Fuze, it
does not display the event description.

Has anyone had much experience with the mobile views or have any ideas
why they are so limited under certain circumstances?

There appears to be some error in the way it calculates the page size available
for display. I'm not sure if this is specific to the fuze, Windows mobile  6.1,
or the mobile view  of calendars  in general. But its tossing a page break in
prior to the description  field of the event. Your users  should see a Next
button when they display  the actual event. Click that will take you to the rest
of the event  description, not to the next event as you might expect. To get the
Next event you have to go back to the list and select a different one.

That was indeed the problem. I'm starting to think
there is no question that can stump you.

No, I've got lots that I don't answer. I just happen to have a Fuze and do some
programming in my spare time on .net compact framework. So the mobile  views
have always interested me. I suspect the real problem is that the FUZE isn't
properly reporting its VGA screen resolution. So sharepoint  thinks the screen
is only 320 X 240.
