As long as you don't need any workflow types that SharePoint Designer
doesn't provide, that will be fine. For full range of workflow
availability, you would want to also have Visual Studio 2005 or later.

Yes.

Please let me know or point to any material which lets me know which are the
kind of scenarios which designer does not support or which kind it supports.

Also in MOSS 2007 is it necessary to use infopath 2007 for workflows  or can i
still continue with infopath 2003.

The limitation of Desginer's workflows  includes:

1. Sequtntial only.
2. Has to attach to a particular site, can not deploy to mutiple
sites.
3. Can not crreat folders.
4. Can not update lists on other site, even in the same site
collection.

5. Can not initiate another workflow.

I would add that a MAJOR limitation of SPD workflows  is that they
cannot be attached to Content Types, this is a very powerful feature
of VS.NET generated workflows.

A great resource for SPD (workflows and everything else) is the team
blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/sharepointdesigner/

I just read a blog post that comments on a major difference between VS and SPD.
SPD workflows  always run as the initiator.
