Using workflow to populate a second list

Asked By: Ricardo    Date: Dec 20    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2569

I have a survey that I am trying to get a calculated field in, and since I can't
add it to the survey list I figured it would be easier to use workflow to get it
to populate a second list. Then I could just add a calculated field to that
list. Any links or tutorials on how to do this?

I haven't been able to find anything on this (tutorials or walk-throughs). I
guess I'll have to just make a list. I was hoping to be able to take advantage
of the branching in the survey.

I was under the impression that SPD can't build workflows on Surveys. I may be
wrong and haven't tried to in Visual Studio.

Unfortunately, workflows are not supported with surveys in WSS 3. See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926370. I don't know if this is resolved in
version 4.

When I go to list  settings for the survey  I'm almost certain that the workflows
link is there. Are you saying that it's a dead link?

No it's not a dead link. Did you read the knowledgebase article he referred
you to? It's a known bug. Workflows can't be started on Survey responses.
Even though the link appears it doesn't work. There is no fix.

No, sorry I didn't. I was rather busy when I responded and probably should have
waited till I had read the article. This initiative is dead in the water due to
other issues though.
