Workflow with Infopath form and incorrect links in the notification

Asked By: Rickie    Date: Sep 28    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1180

I'm trying to set up a basic web enabled infopath form with a
workflow.

Initially, I ran into an issue where the link in the e-mail was
incorrect and I received an error about not using a relative URL and
pre-fixing it with ~sitecollection.

So after looking around a bit, I came across a bug (kb939592) which
was fixed in SP1 so I installed SP1 on a test Sharepoint server and
tried setting up the workflow there.

It works better now but still not perfect. When I receive the task
notification e-mail and click on the link, it loads IE and asks me to
open or save the file. If I choose open, the form is opened in
Infopath but I want it to just open in the browser like it does if I
click the form from the site.

The link in the e-mail is formatted as follows:
https://server/path/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?
XmlLocation=https://server/path/Forms/test.xml

I noticed when I click the link on the site, the link is similar but
also has the following extra parameter:
&DefaultItemOpen=1

If I add the DefaultItemOpen option to the end of the e-mail link and
paste it in the browser, it opens in the browser without Infopath.

Any ideas what might cause this?
