Word templates

Asked By: Ali Vincent         Date: Dec 09, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 192

We are setting up a Sharepoint 2003 server, and are trying out various
stuff before we go live.

We don't have a lot of experience with SP, so maybe this question will
be peanuts for the experience guys, but we have to start somewhere.

We are putting templates of word documents in a document library. The
problem now is that when someone uses the link, he opens the template
document.

We would like when selection a template, that a new word document is
opened based on the template.

Any suggestions on how to make this happen?

I believe you should be checking in the .doc file for that template
instead of the .dot file. That's how the old Sharepoint worked anyways.
