I'm using SharePoint 2003 and Office 2003, SharePoint site is on a
server running Windows 2003 Server, and my laptop is running Windows
XP Pro.
When I try to open a Word or Excel file from SharePoint, there are one
of two messages displayed : one is titled File Download, and the
message is :
>>>>>>>>>>
Some files can harm your computer, etc.
File Name : xxx.doc
File Type : Microsoft Word Document
From : xxxServer
Would you like to open the file or save it to your computer?
Buttons : Open, Save, Cancel, More Info
<<<<<<<<<<
- when I click Open on this message, it opens fine.
The other message is titled "Microsoft Internet Explorer" and the
message is :
>>>>>>>>>>
Some files can harm your computer, etc.
You are opening the following file :
File Name : xxx.doc
From : xxxServer
Buttons : Ok, Cancel
<<<<<<<<<<
- if I click Ok, it begins to launch Word, prompts me for my username
and password, and then hangs after I enter them.
I am authorised to open these files - I created most of them, and
could open them no problem previously. And one day last week for no
apparent reason, all the files opened fine. I have no idea why. The
next morning, it was back to square one - hanging again.
I'm really at a loss on this, and it's preventing us from rolling out
SharePoint within the company, so if anyone can shed any light it, it
would be very much appreciated!
