Windows SharePoint services 3 SQL database login failed

Asked By: Stewart    Date: Feb 24    Category: MOSS    Views: 2308

We have a medium farm install. Both WFE's are fine. On the index server we
get a sporadic error message in the event log "Windows SharePoint services 3 SQL
database login failed. Additional error information from SQL Server is included
below. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'." I looked at the
MOSS 12 logs and found nothing really helpful except it pointed directly to the
SPWriter.exe process being the specific process that has the issue. I double
checked all service accounts they are still all valid, all have correct access
to systems.
Right now there is not anything that appears to be broken by this error.
Everything looks alright. What gets me is the times (i.e. 3:30pm, 3;00pm, 11 PM,
7:40am, 7:20am, 7:09 am, 1:45 am) they are random. Do not correspond to any
scheduled task, crawl, import or anything. They do not correspond to a user
action on the portal. No idea.
For the record these are all MOSS 207 Enterprise SP1 boxes running Server 03,
backend DBs are 2 A/P clustered SQL 2005 boxes. Anyone has any idea where to
even look for the cause.
