This smells like one of those bugs that occurs after a security update.
We've had that happen, especially in our mixed MOSS 2007/Office 2003
environment. Occasionally a security update gets pushed out and then
people start randomly experiencing odd errors because some .dll has been
change or corrupted. A browser repair usually fixes it.
