Why Does SharePoint Display "MyDomain\MyUID" instead of "FirstName

Asked By: Kenny    Date: Jun 04    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 787

Didn't we figure out why some people are listed as MyDomain\MyUID and
others are listed as FirstName Lastname?

Like when your pull down a list on a lookup column on a list item that
set to allow selection of Users?

I thought we figured this out once.

I don't recall the past conversation, but one instance where this can
occur is if you have added users via a domain group or the like and that
user has not logged into the site yet. Their friendly name won't get
populated until they login.

This has always happened with me. I create the site and my name comes as <domain>\<UID>

The machine’s local administrator is SharePoint Administrator. While creating the WSS site I give my id as the administrator of the site. Then I add other users and their “friendly name” is displayed. How can i do the same for myself.
