Weired permission problem

Asked By: Darren    Date: Jul 29    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 657

We're developing a WebPart that accesses data from a SharePoint list on the
hosting site. We use the SPWeb object to get a reference to the SPList. In
order to make this work, we've granted ObjectModel permission to the WebPart .
Here's the weird part: the part only runs when the logged in user is a member
of the Domain Administrator group (the server is a domain controller) . If any
other user tries to view the WebPart, they get an "access denied" message just
as if they were not authorized for the site. You even get the little prompt
that sends a message to the site adminstrator, asking to be added as a user.
This error happens on all pages that contain the WebPart, but nowhere else on
the site. So there's not problem at login, unless the part is displayed on the
main page. Anybody have any ideas about this?

What are the OM methods you are using to access  the remote list? Certain ways
of getting site  collection/site/list objects require admin privs. ALso confirm
that the user  accessing the page  has permissions to access the remote list  - the
OM will enforce this.
