How can we modify what webparts are available for use on Mysites?

Each person's My Site is provisioned as a separate site collection, with its own
web part gallery. So there is no easy way to add or remove web parts across them
all in the user interface.

To change the web parts available for new My Sites, you could write a feature
and staple it to the definition used to create a My Site. The feature could add
or remove web parts in the gallery as required when activated.

For existing My Sites, I think you would have to write a utility to iterate
through them all and activate the feature to make  the same changes to them.

Thanks. That's what I've found out. For existing sites each person has to
use Site Collection Administration on their sie to Activate the features.
