Webpart problem

Asked By: Krista Porter         Date: Mar 23, 2010      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 256

I uninstalled Lead-its essential webparts via add/remove programs on the
server without first removing them from the different sites that were
using the webparts. Now when I visit any of these pages, I get this
message:

Error

The Leadit.SharePoint.Essentials, Version=1.1.1.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=6f708acd0ffbe583 assembly specified in a Register
directive of this page could not be found.

I've gone to the Web Parts Maintenance page and deleted the offending
webparts. However, I'm still getting the message above. Any ideas?
I've tried reinstalling the Lead-IT webparts, but I get this error
message:

Nothing is logged in log file mentioned. I've opened up a support call
with Microsoft, but I'm still on hold. Any ideas?

That is interesting, getting the error again after removing  the web  part. In
the web part maintenance page  did you remove  the web part from shared view
too.

Did you check for all the entries of the web part in GAC, web.config,
wpcatalog.

It is not in the Web.config, wpcatalog or GAC....

hmmm.....you mean to say you can't delete the web  part at all.

I figured out the problem. The two sites  in question had been modified
via Frontpage 2003. I had to manually remove  a reference to the webpart
in the default.aspx code for each site. I still can't get Lead IT
essentials webparts  to install. Can any confirm that they can install
them on a WSS server that has WSS SP1 or SP2 installed? I've seen an
entry in the newsgroups that states they're having the same problem.
Uninstalling SP1 allowed them to install the webpart.

Can someone send me the relevant files from the 1.1.1 lead-it  essentials
webparts? I'd like to install them manually is possible. I can't get
them to install with the MSI package.
