Use webpart in ASP.Net

  Asked By: Katie    Date: Apr 17    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 926

I have a webpart(.dwp) and its dll file and I want to use this webpart
into one of my ASP.Net website. I am not interested in other features
of WSS / SPS, thats why, I dont want to install WSS, etc.

Is it possible to instantiate the webpart from my ASP.Net application?

I am not aware of a way of doing this without having the actual code and recompiling the dll. However, there may be a wrapper out there that someone who has had the same problem has created.

A Web Part is actually a DLL (namespace.classname, assemblyname,
version, culture, publickeytoken). The DWP file  you have may be pointing
to a WSS v2 DLL, an ASP.NET 2.0 DLL, or a WSS v3 DLL. The first and
third must be run in SharePoint. The middle DLL may be able to run in an
ASP.NET application  or SharePoint. Do you know what class the WebPart
class inherits?
