Weblinks some times they show - sometimes they

Asked By: Samir    Date: Nov 03    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1029

I have been using weblinks quite a bit on our site. Sometimes after
the document is posted the weblinks show up in categories -
sometimes they don't. I just posted a document with a weblink to
another location on the sharepoint server - and it does not show
up. Does anybody understand what is going - can I not point back to
the same server?

you can very well give any valid link you want. there shud not be any
problem. it is strange that they do not show  up sometimes. may be u can try
flushing the cache. if it still does not work let me know if it happens for
the same user, and i'll try get deeper into it.

I tried checking the document  out again today and republishing it. Still
the document with a weblink profile does not show  up in the categories. I
tried flushing the cash and nothing.

I had some issues with links that either had not been crawled, the
index wasn't updated or were excluded by robot directives. If there
is no content, I doesn't show  up in categories.

if you go to "Content > webpart > webpart settings > advanced settings > Store
the following data for this Web Part", you will see that whenever u add as
ategory or content to this webpart, the script generates xml code and stores in
"Store the following data for this Web Part" section. so it has no physical
existence in the form of document  which you can index or use any document
management features like check-in or check-out.

so when you create category or content for this webpart make sure they appear in
"Store the following data for this Web Part"
