Web Services and Web Parts

  Asked By: Theresa    Date: Mar 26    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1397

I'm trying to use Web Services to view properties of a WebPart on a page.
Specifically, I am making a reference to
http://localhost/_vti_bin/WebPartPages.asmx and then calling the
GetWebPartProperties() method. Can anyone point me to a good example for
using the Web Services?

I was looking for this as well. I finally found this (aaclage.blogspot.com/.../...sp-page-using-web.html)

It turns out (if you are stuck in the same spot I was) that Page URL is actually just Library Path + File name (relative to the site).

Request Example
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<soap:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<soap:Body>

<GetWebPartProperties xmlns="http://microsoft.com/sharepoint/webpartpages">
<pageUrl>SitePages/Home.aspx</pageUrl>
<storage>Shared</storage>
</GetWebPartProperties>

</soap:Body>
</soap:Envelope>

Hope that helps.
