Web Part/No Proxy Server

Asked By: Tessa    Date: Mar 12    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1163

I hope this has not been asked a bunch of times. I'm at a loss on this

I am running a very small intranet with no domain. Everything is working
great but importing Web Parts. We are not running a proxy server. I get
the below error:

An error occurred while importing a Web Part.
HTTP error retrieving Web Part (400).
This error may be due to the current dashboard proxy server setting,
which can be changed using the proxycfg tool. Consult the product
documentation or your administrator for more information.
Click here to return to the dashboard Contents page.

Is there anyway to import Web Parts when you don't have a proxy server?

Regardless if you are using or not using a proxy  server, you must
configure the server  side object, serverXMLHTTP, for the portal itself
to make HTTP requests. As you stated, you are not using a proxy so you
must fake the portal server out.

Microsoft KB Article Q290201 found at
support.microsoft.com/default.aspx can
assist you in completing this operation.

The above solution should work but alternatively, you could manually
download the web  part (.dwp file) from the microsoft  SharePoint site
then manually add it to your dashboard.
