Web Part views reverting back to default after site creation

I am creating site templates (.stp) and as part of my templates, there
are some web parts that have custom views created.
How come when the site has been created from the template, none of the
web parts hold the custom views from before?
All the web parts revert back to their default views; any sorting,
grouping or what have you is all gone.
Can anyone explain why?
Is there a fix for this?

This is a known issue in the release version, but I thought it was
resolved under SP1...
