Web Part Gallery

Asked By: Dale    Date: Jun 13    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1210

I have uploaded a web part to the web part gallery and assigned it to
group "Default Web Parts." Now, why is there no group called "Default
Web Parts" when I click Modify My Page > Add Web Parts > Browse?

The groups listed are:.

Web Part Page Gallery
Information Technology Gallery
Virtual Server Gallery
Online Gallery

But my web part is not listed in any of these. How do the Groups work
on the Web Part Gallery Administration page?

I believe (going from memory here) that they work only within the admin
UI, not the client browser UI.

The "Default web  Parts" group  is only used for displaying Web Parts in
the Gallery. The "web part  gallery" that you uploaded  you Web Part into
was the Information Technology Gallery. You should find your Web Part

Can anybody tell me where I can find the main gallery  of web  parts? I
went to my site collection and the web gallery only has a few web
parts. This is a brand new installation of MOSS and still not very
familiar with it. I'm looking for the MyCalendar or similar web part.
In SPS 2003 you had a master list and you could choose which part  to
let users use. I have full permissions across the site. I'm sure
they're there somewhere.
Can anyone help me an point me in the right direction?

Try this first, once you get to the Web Part Gallery for the Site
Collection, click  the New button in the toolbar. You should see all the
Web Parts that can be added to the Gallery.
