The New For You Web Part

In the default install, there's a News Area with three sub-areas,
Company, Press Announcements and External. News Area has a "News
Areas" web part on the right side.

Each of those sub-areas has portal listings and when you create such a
listing, they appear in the News Areas web part on the News area page.

can anyone explain how that works or how I could duplicate such
behavior?
