Web application missing?

Asked By: Kimberlee    Date: Apr 20    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1198

Does every web application have an associated SSP?

When I go to Application Management under Central Administration, I
notice that I have no SSP listed under Manage this Farm's Shared

Did I do something wrong? Can I just create a new SSP?

Did you have a SSP at one point and now it's gone?
It's entirely possible to have a web  application
without a SSP.

I do not believe so. I did not manually create  it. So I was wondering if
it was created automatically when I created the web  application. Is this
a manual process? Sorry for all the questions, I am new to this.

You can choose to create  an associated web  application
when provisioning a SSP, but not the other way around.
You should be able to provision a new SSP and
associate your existing web app without any problems.
