Web analytics solutions?

Asked By: Leonard    Date: Jun 06    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1079

I'm hoping someone else out there has already crossed this bridge
because we are standing on one side of the gap and practically
staring in disbelief!

We've recently discovered that WSS traffic logging takes place in a
non-standard format that can't be analyzed by conventional web
metrics tools like WebTrends.

Has anyone else dealt with the requirement to report on SPS/WSS
traffic? I know there is limited reporting capability in Frontpage
2003 but we have more sophisticated needs (like filtering) and need
something more robust.

You can't use WebTrends to analyze the log files WSS generates -
they are non-standard web  log files. I'm not talking about the ones
in IIS - these don't record hits to file downloads. The ones I mean
are stored here: \%windir%\system32\LogFiles\STS

More details available here:

Has no one else out there ever been asked to report on how many
times a file has been downloaded in WSS?
