Way to force users to open/download the wmv video files

Asked By: Stephanie    Date: Dec 03    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 3122

Is there a way to force users to open/download the wmv video files form
library?

What is happening here is that when a user clicks on a video, it opens
up WIndows Media Player but then it comes up right away with an error
stating that it cannot connect to the site to download the video.
However, we are able to download the videos, save them, and we are able
to place them.

Is there a way to force the browser to make the user either download or
open the file which would download to IE cache and then look for a
player to play the file in instead of looking for the player first and
then force the player to download the file that its not able to do.

One way would be to ZIP up the WMV files. That way, users  wouldn't be
able to directly open the WMV's on the site.
