Virtual Server Gallery

Asked By: Keon    Date: Oct 20    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1083

How do I delete webparts that are showing up in my Virtual Server
Gallery? Or, better yet, How do I disable this gallery from showing up
when a user browses for web parts?

Deleting a Web Part Package
To delete  a Web Part package from specified virtual  servers on a computer
running Windows SharePoint Services, open a command prompt, and then type the
following command:

stsadm.exe -o deletewppack
-name Web_Part_Pack_name
[-url URL]

I do not know the name of the web  part package. Right now my Virtual
Server gallery  has 11 items, all named "untitled." I do not know where
these web parts  came from, but I need to remove them from the gallery.
I was going by this inforamtion found on a blog:

". If the web part package has already been installed with dwps - i.e.
you already have an entry in the virtual  server gallery - you can
delete the dwps from the wpcatalog folder (\inetpub\wwwroot\wpcatalog)"

This folder contains 4 different .dwp files, but no web parts
named "untitled." Where is the virtual server  getting these 11 web
parts from? That is my problem. Thanks!

I just found 11 .dwp files in the folder:

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\wpcatalog\_vti_cnf

Deployments after minor changes to any of the following six fields that
use the -force option will result in orphaned DWPs in the wpcatalog
directory:
1. Assembly
2. Version
3. Culture
4. PublicKeyToken
5. Namespace
6. Classname

They are marked as Unknown by SharePoint when the Title field in the DWP
is left blank.

Does anyone know how to prevent the
Virtual Server Gallery from showing. I've never researched this before.
