Virtual server dns name

Asked By: Lakeisha    Date: Feb 28    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 677

I have created another virtual server and used port 8011. I can set up
a host header and dns name for the virtual server itself, but when users
use the name and add their site names, it only gives them the virtual
server itself. Ex: http://10.10.x.x" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://10.10.x.x" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://10.10.x.x" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://10.10.x.x:8011 <http://10.10.x.x" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://10.10.x.x" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://10.10.x.x" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://10.10.x.x:8011/> was
given the host header name/dns entry of faculty. You can reach this
root site with the name just fine. When users try to reach
http://faculty/sites/aas it takes them to 10.10.x.x:8011 and they cannot
get to their site until they use the full address with the IP:port
numbers(http://10.10.x.x" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://10.10.x.x" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://10.10.x.x" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://10.10.x.x:8011/sites/aas). Is there a way to fix this?
They are so tried of having to type in the ip address and port number
instead of a common name and are complaining.
