Virtual PC Issue

Asked By: Brandon Garcia         Date: Nov 13, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 293

Apparently, the `real OS' system reached out through the network and
linked with the `virtual' system and then decided to use it's system
for part of the `real' operation.

The `virtual' system has a completely different name.

Any thoughts on this?

Can you give us any more detail? As it is, this sounds like the plot
exposition of a psycho sci-fi movie.

There is no significant difference between physical and virtual  as far
as WSS3 is concerned, what were the problems you were seeing?

As far as I know, a unique IP from our network, a clean install and a
different name for the `server'. Our main site will not come
up....or went down not accessible....

Does the virtual  have a unique IP address and host name? How was the VM
created - a clean OS install or a copy of an already running physical or
virtual machine?

As far as I know, a unique IP from our network, a clean install and a
different name for the `server'. We have no access to our site on
the other server.

There's either something missing from your description, or you/your
admin are misunderstanding what you are seeing. What you describe isn't
really possible.

I am relaying information as I get it - The IT person is working with
MS to fix this problem - I will let you know what I can later. Thank
you for some areas to look into per my issue  - I was really looking
to see if anyone had experienced this before.

Are they using the same network  card?
