Virtual Directories Not Listed In Config Database

Asked By: Quintin    Date: Oct 09    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 838

I think I'm missing information in the Config Database about the
virtual directories. Is there a way to recreate it other then backing
it all up, deleting all of the virtual servers and restoring them?

We recently migrated from a single server environment of WSS to a
server farm consisting of a SQL 200 server two Intranet WSS servers
and an Internet based WSS server on our DMZ.

All was good until I tried to extend a site from one of the Intranet
WSS servers to the DMZ WSS server. I created a virtual server on the
DMZ server and attempted to extend it to an existing virtual server,
except that none of my existing virtual servers are listed except the
ones that were created on the DMZ server.

As a test I change on the DMZ server and the other non-production
Intranet server to test. If I create new virtual directories and
extend them to another new virtual server it works. The new virtual
directories were created after the server was pointed to the new
config DB.
