Viewing sharepoint portal with a Mac

Asked By: Keaton Boyle         Date: Dec 25, 2006      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 280

I am very new to Sharepoint, and I have a portal site that cannot be
used with a Mac. Clicking on the menubar on the left hand side does
not link to any pages. Can anyone provide any answers? This is a
public site and there needs to be some way of viewing the site using Macs.

Which browser are you using to access SPS from the Macs?
We have 2-300 Mac users on our network as well, which poses a problem in Sharepoint. I've found that the best browser for us (subjective) has been Camino v1.0. There is no office integration of course, but we can access sites. Safari doesn't seem to work at all, and IE doesn't work well (and is no longer being developed, I believe).

Other than that, we are looking at a solution down the road that involves RDC & terminal services, Citrix, or possibly an Apple virtual PC environment on each Mac (thanks, Heather).

i have 3,000 mac  users which work fine on FireFox or Netscape.

Some items don't work well like exporting lists to excel, etc. that are .dlls
but most of it does.

for those users that need full wss/sps functionality, we serve *ONLY*
iexplore.exe over citrix mapping through the local drives. MSTSC (rdp) requires
a full desktop which is horrible.
