Viewing permissions for Columbs

Asked By: Pankaj    Date: Oct 14    Category: MOSS    Views: 542

In SharePoint 2007 with MOSS installed, I can see where you can prevent
a user from viewing any item in al LIST. But I want to also prevent
viewing of a particular columb. Reasoning: that columb might contain
pricing information I do not want - or want - the viewer to see based
on their permission level.

Any thoughts?

This requires custom programming of a custom field type.

Or, depending on the type of data you there is a workaround. If you
make the column a lookup against a list with limited access, the column
values will not be visible to users without access to the lookup list.
