View a single list item in a web part on a web part page

If you use the page viewer to view the list item directing for example
to list_name/DispForm.aspx?ID=8 the pager viewer web part displays the
entire SharePoint page view inside the web part.

Anyone come across a simple or cheap way to display just the list item
information on the form on a web part page? I don't need to be able to
edit or add to the form. Just display form information in reply to
another web part's connection. Shoot at this point I would be happy with
no connections and just manually set the form ID for each web part page.

In this case SharePoint Designer and the Dataform web part are your best friend.

Also looking for more details. I have used the data form web part to
create more lists and dynamic lists of data, but can't get it to display
all of the fields for a single list item..

More information,
Let's say you have a list of contacts and a web part page dedicated to
single person. I want to display all of the information about the
contact in a web part (so for example every field from the contact list
filtered to that specific contact).

If I set the page viewer web part to display dispform=1 (for that
contact) I get the whole master page again as well. When really I just
want the filled out form. (Don't need to edit etc..)

When you use the dataform web part you can control which fields are represented
in the view. I'm not aware of any that you can't add to the display. They
won't be there automatically, you will need to edit the columns list to add the
additional columns.

Take a look at the following set of articles on the Office site. They are about
how to add a DataForm (DataView) web part to a page. When you add the DataForm
you can display a single item by selecting the Single Item view instead of the
Multiple item view. The article uses an XML file as the datasource, but you
can also use an existing list or library as the datasource.
