We tried to chance the number of lines on the calendar view on the first page of a sharepoint portal.

While that did not work for some reason it broke the permissions to logging into the site.

If you are in the domain administrators group it works fine. If you are a regular user you must so ok 3 or 4 times and then you get in but the calendar does not show up. On the users computer I get a series of 40961 errors. Saying the computer could not establish a secure connection.

If you mean the OWA Calendar that would be what I would expect. It must be
configured to access a specific Exchange mailbox which works  OK on a My Site
but would likely be a bad solution on the default page  of a portal.

Perhaps you can use a Windows SharePoint Services Events List to accomplish
your goal.

if not the OWA calendar  Web Part, what Web Part are you using then?
Is it a List view  Web Part (LVWP) that comes with SharePoint to show  the
events in an Events list? Or is it a calendar view of another type of
built-in list? Or is it a third party calendar Web Part?

We are using the built in Events list that came with SharePoint and
we view  it as the calendar, nothing fancy.
We have just narrowed down that only a few people in the office are
having the problem and the majority are not having any problems. We
tried deleting temp files on those persons computers, but it did not
change anything.
Any other thoughts?
