Value of proposition of upgrading a WSS 2003 SP1 environment to use

Are there any specific benefits of upgrading a WSS 2003 SP1 environment to use SQL Server 2005? (using WSS SP2 as the upgrade path)

...that is, are there any WSS 2003 benefits specific to using SQL Server 2005?

SQL Server 2005 has it's own indexing engine and doesn't (I don't think) use mssearch.exe. That interests me. I am not sure how this will affect WSS/SPS yet.
