v2 templates question

Asked By: Tucker Ashley         Date: Jun 28, 2007      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 204

This may be a silly question, but can anybody tell me if we can import
v2 templates into SharePoint v3? For example, can we import the Travel
Request template, that is only available in v2, to v3? Thanks for any
help on this.

Not that I'm aware of. V2 templates  and v3 templates have a different
architecture. They're framed up very differently.

You could, however, migrate a site with the template  you want out of
v2 applied and export the template once the site is migrated. We did
this with one of the custom templates  we're using in MOSS that was
originally designed in v2 (though we did it as part of the upgrade
process). Note that this does require a server to migrate from/to,
and it assumes that you even have access to v2 in the first place.
