V1 suddenly asking for login credentials...?

Asked By: Katharine    Date: Jan 21    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1948

I have been running SPS v 1.1 for about 6 months now without a
problem, a few days ago a user complained to me that when they tried
to connect to the server via the network place they were asked for a
login/password. I thought it was unusual but dismissed it as a
network glitch.

Since then, all my users are complaining about it. This only happens
via the network place (not via the web interface) when a user tried
to ACCESS a document (not when they browse the document folder
structure, only when they try to open/checkout a document).

Does anyone have any idea how this may have happened? or better yet,
how to fix it?

Some additional info:
1) The network admin guys assure me nothing in the config has changed.
2) If the user enters their network login/password they can access
the documents as if they had integrated security (like they used to
before this problem arose).
