Users are not validating in people picker using ADAM?

  Asked By: Traci    Date: Aug 28    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1635

I have created a site using extended web application as Form based
authentication using ADAM. Just for the Information I have already
implemented two type of sites are working using windows authentication
(ADS) and Sql Server Authentication (FBA). Both are working without
any problem.

In central ADmin - Share Service Provider - VIew User profile, Here I
can add and populate Windows User and SQL User using people picker,
but whenever I try to add ADAM users, it is not validating nor even
pupulating in People Picker. SUprisingly adam users are
validating/populating in Site Collection Administrator.

I have already ADAM Provider in Central Admin web.config.

Please let me know what I am missing here?

I am using following provider  string in central  admin web.config and
adam site  web config

<membership defaultProvider="ADAMMembership">
<providers>
<add name="ADAMMembership"
type="Microsoft.Office.Server.Security.LDAPMembershipProvider,
Microsoft.Office.Server, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=71E9BCE111E9429C"
server="spweb01"
port="389"
useSSL="false"
userDNAttribute="distinguishedName"
userNameAttribute="cn"
userContainer="CN=Users,OU=ADAMTest,O=ADAM,C=US"
userObjectClass="user"
userFilter="(ObjectClass=user)"
scope="Subtree"
otherRequiredUserAttributes="sn,givenname,cn" />
</providers>
</membership>

One more thing, I am using 2 front end servers. As 2nd front end web
server is mirror of 1st Front server  sharepoint sites, so do I need
to install ADAM on 2nd Front end Server also?

I had to add  the information  for ADAM into the web.config for CA. I
also added it into the web.config for the SSP.

Also, for the PeoplePicker to work correctly, I had to add the line:
<add key="<ADAM FBA membership name>" value="*" />

in all the web.config's that I put the ADAM information.

Also, I only got ADAM authentication  to work when I extended  the
original web  app using the Extranet Zone.
