Users Import AD

Asked By: Bhavini    Date: May 20    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1342

I am having the following problem.

When I check the users profiles for a couple of users in the "Shared
Services Administration: SharedServices" I see that the work email is
correct, meaning it has been correctly updated from Active Directory. Now
once I am on the sharepoint site and I do a search on the employee list,
the data is outdated.

Any ideas on what could be causing the problem?

The root site  of each site collection contains a hidden "User Information"
list. The first time a user is referenced (i.e. user added to a SharePoint
list or user entered in a Person column), the user profile information is either
COPIED from the User Profile store (SSP) or from Active Directory.

However, if the AD information changes (i.e. email  address or name), it will
eventually get updated  in the User Profile (SSP via the incremental or
full import). It will not get updated in the hidden "User Information" list.

I believe you can download a "UserProfileSync" solution from CodePlex to fix
this problem. For this solution to work, the person running the program must
have rights to the SSP AND must be a site collection administrator. It also
has the code if you need to debug it.

not sure about the codeplex solution, but each sharepoint  application has a
hourly timer job called Quick Profile Synchronization, and it should update user
