Add user in Web Storage System (M:)

Asked By: Palash    Date: Dec 19    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 835

One of my users has read permission on the top level of a workspace
and coordinator permission on the Documents folder.
When I look in Web Storage System (M:) she is not there on the top
level but on Documents I can see her.
My question is: Can I add her from the Web Storage System (M:)?

You do not want to play with security in the web  Storage System. Matter
of fact, SPS 2001 does not map the M drive for that reason. I have never
compared the M permissions to Sharepoint roles. Does this user  have a
problem reading at the top  level workspace?

Yes, she can not access the workspace with her user  id.
She gets a logon window where she types her domain, user id and
password but with no success. When she clicks on OK the logon window
pops up again and after a few tries she gets the message
"not authorized".
For your information is the user id with which she has her
permissions in SPS and the SharePoint Server in the same domain and
the user id and computer she is logged on to is in another one.

If I check the security settings here, M:\localhost\SharePoint
Portal Server\workspaces\wrkspace, it doesn't match the settings
in My Network Places.
Why?
Is it possible to repair M:\localhost\SharePoint Portal
Server\workspaces\wrkspace to make it the same as
http://server/wrkspace/.....?

I would very much appreciate an answer since this is becoming
critical.
